Mid-week communication regarding busing and Covid

Dear Staff and Families,

We hope you have had a nice winter break. We write to give you a quick update on a number of issues we are following closely this week.

Busing Update

We are working closely with our bus company to ensure that operations on Monday run as smoothly as possible. We have been assured that the staffing issues that forced us to cancel classes last Thursday will not be repeated.

With winter upon us, winter weather will be a way of life for the next few months. Remember that we have provided families with a bus tracking app “Firstview” that allows you to see the estimated time for pick up and drop off for your child’s bus. This comes in handy during inclement weather so that if a bus is running behind schedule, your child does not have to wait in the cold, but can go to the bus stop when the bus is actually on its way.? More information can be found here.

Of course, we also want to remind you that we encourage drop off and pick-up of students from school to reduce the amount of students on buses. Should you have any questions about arrival and dismissal procedures, we encourage you to connect with your school’s principal.

Covid Information?

We are working closely with city and state health officials, as well as the mayor’s office, to keep up with changing protocols and processes for Covid-19. This includes information from the CDC this week regarding modified isolation and quarantine periods for the general population.? Click here for more information

In short, people who have been infected with Covid-19 and are asymptomatic may leave isolation after five days and should wear a mask around others for five more days. Vaccinated people exposed to Covid-19 should wear a mask around others for 10 days and take a Covid 19-test five days after exposure if possible, according to CDC officials.

We are working with state and local health officials, and our school nurses, to provide rapid at home tests to students who are close contacts with others who test positive.? More information will be shared with you as it becomes available.

In the meantime, we urge you to continue to follow the daily checklist here?and to continue to monitor yourself and your children for symptoms. If your child has symptoms, have them stay home and get tested as soon as possible.
